Meeting Minutes from the Bio-Buddies' 1st meeting
(DISCLAIMER: I won't have time to do an official MM format this time, but I'll try to make it easier to read the next time around with an easy reference format. Also, I'm really bad with names, if I don't have an e-mail referring to the subject we were talking about with your name at the header I have no clue who you are most of the time. Please don't be offended if I refer to you by the subject you talked about or where you're from. No disrespect intended, that's the only way I'm going to be able to get these MM out. In the future I'll be more prepared and will know to take everyone's name down before we get started instead relying on my memory which is always a bad idea.)
A) We met at Rick's house before his class (thanks again Rick) at 8:00 am giving us 2 hours to handle our business.
B) We got started by introducing ourselves and generally BSing for a little while (motorcycles was one subject)
C) I handed out some drawings and a quick reference sheet (if you want these please let me know)
D) We Started by seeing where everyone was in regards to full on production or just getting started.
- I and another fella (sorry can't remember your name, but you'll come up several times down the page) are in the process of selling our gasoline vehicles so we can buy diesel powered.
-Rick, Miles, and Carlos are all full on production.
-And most of the other guys were in the process of building/gathering all the equipment or looking for WVO sources.
E) We moved to the subject of BOV.
-The source is located in the Austin area (actually 15 miles outside of Austin).
-For now we're going to contact him individually and arrange receipt of the oil
-We might try to set up a bulk collection in the future but it's kind of pending the company research which will be talked about later on
-The contacts name is Mr. Kim Alexander at 512-247-4455
-For now, you'll need to make all arrangements with him (price, pick-up time date, his exact location, etc.)
F) We moved on to BOV II.
-Earl Ashurst has a friend at Frito-Lay in Dallas.
-Earl explained the process for FL's oil collection
-There are multi-year contracts that are bid on as they come up for renewal
-From my understanding, if we get the contract, we'll have to take all the oil (up to 4000 gallons a month)
-Earl said he'd keep us up to date on the progress of the renewal and any other updates as he gets them
G) We talked about algae as a means of VO for making biodiesel
-Shae explained how farmers are getting 50% yield out of the algae
-Shae explained the process for getting the oil was to mash the algae like grapes for wine
-I will be contacting Shae about getting additional information and posting links to the www.dfwbiodiesel.org forums (I'll send out locations with link in the normal mailing lists)
H) We talking about the Lister Diesel Generators.
-Shae explained how they're low RPM (300 - 500 rmps) diesel powered generators made from the 1929s to modern times, currently out of India.
-Shae explained how people are using these generators to completely detach themselves from the Electric Companies' power grid
-Shae showed a video about the generator after the meeting
-I will be contacting Shae about getting additional information and posting links to the www.dfwbiodiesel.org forums (I'll send out locations with link in the normal mailing lists)
I) We talked about the different Haz Mat classifications and regulation
-Richard Woods, a Haz Mat cleaner upper (technical terms here folks), explained that Haz Mat requirements are 1001 lbs before you need a "hazardous diamond" and an endorsement on your driver's license (which 55 gallons = roughly 400 lbs)
-Richard explained that B100 is NOT considered a Haz Mat substance until it's mixed with petroleum diesel (B99 down to B0). Thus you can carry as much B100 as your truck can handle
J) We then talked about the Texas Law changing Bill that will NOT allow individuals to pick-up WVO for personal use (which has already passed in California) and that we needed to start a company to get around the new laws if they do pass.
-(the other fella looking to sell his gasser for a diesel) already has an LLC (Limited Liability Company) or LLP (Limited Liability Partnership) {I can't remember which he said}
-We decided I would research all the fees, laws, etc needed to start a company for collecting WVO
-I will post links about the Texas & California Law changes and any company information I come across and links to documents I get my information from so anyone can read for themselves what I find
-Pending my research we'll call another meeting to move forward or go a different direction
VERY IMPORTANT: IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN RECEIVING THE E-MAILS FOR STARTING A COMPANY I NEED TO KNOW. I WILL CREATE A SECOND MAILING LIST SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS SUBJECT SO EVERYONE NOT INTERESTED DOESN'T HAVE TO RECEIVE 10,000 E-MAILS THEY DON'T WANT (JUST GENERAL E-MAILS BACK AND FORTH REGARDING STARTING A BUSINESS BUT MIGHT BECOME A LOT IF THERE'S AN IMPORTANT SUBJECT). I WILL ALSO START A NEW SECTION ON OUR FORUMS REGARDING COMPANY INFORMATION, RESEARCH, ETC. WITH A PASSWORD THAT I WILL ONLY SEND OUT VIA THE ABOVE MENTIONED E-MAIL LIST (WE MAY HAVE COMPETITORS THAT WE DON'T WANT TO SEE OUR PLANS OR BENEFIT FROM OUR RESEARCH).
YOU CAN REPLY TO THIS E-MAIL JUST LETTING ME KNOW (ANY TIME IN THE FUTURE IS FIND TOO, I'LL UPDATE YOU IF YOU COME IN LATE)
As always, if you have any comments, suggestions or questions (I'm sure I forgot to include something in all the above mess) then please feel free to let me know. ;-)
