My 2001 Excursion Powerstoke with 97,000 miles just came out of our shop and I wanted to share some information on this repair. I have been running SVO for over a year and put 20+k veg miles on it. About a month ago, the engine was greatly underpowered so we started to troubleshoot the problem. Eventually we determined that 4 of the injectors were at 17% and the other 4 were 74%. At first we were concerned that the SVO was the culprit but that should have caused all 8 injectors to go bad. After some discussions with the injector rebuild guys, we think the problem was the glow plugs on the side with the damaged injectors were not working correctly. I have been educated (quite expensively) that glow plugs are the key to injector health - and always let your plugs warm up before hitting the starter!
We will be intalling 2 SVO kits and 1 upgrade over the next few weeks at the shop. If anyone wants to take the plunge to running SVO, we are here to get you converted.

I don't know about that... I do know that running SVO is bad though. Besides..Cummins don't have glow plugs.
