howdy y'all
i just found this place from a link on biodieselcommunity.org and figured it would sure be nice to collaborate w/ others making their own fuel in the area.
i live in Watauga (north fort worth) and have been making fuel since the middle of March. I use the appleseed type processor w/ 4 tanks and a 40 gal water heater. WVO goes into the 1st tank, then to the heater, settling tank, wash tank, drying/storage tank. the processor yields about 25 gallons from 105L WVO input using the 80/20 method with about 18% methanol with KOH and 5% prewash w/ oil that usually titrates in the 5-7 range and i've never had a fail of the 3/27 test. i use bag filters to filter it down to 1 micron before it goes thru a goldenrod 10 micron canister filter and a napa 2 micron spin on mounted on a fill-rite pump. i can process, settle and water wash in one day and usually have about an hour left to dry the next day. i've had no problems running B100 in a 2006 Cummins for about 6000 miles, and it always smells like cheeseburgers ;D.
about the only issue i've got (just like most i assume) is what to do w/ the glycerol. I dont do any methanol recovery and if anyone would like to take the stuff off my hands for that purpose let me know and you're free to come get it, or i can drop it off anywhere in the fort worth, arlington or midcities area. i've got a 55 gal poly drum full of it. any other suggestions or ideas as to what y'all do with it would be greatly appreciated.
i'd be glad to help anyone wanting to get started or help and get involved in a bulk collection of WVO.
i'm sure i'll be checking back here but for quicker response feel free to email me: rockfrawg@sbcglobal.net
