Here’s what I propose..
Since most of the equipment is going to be provided, I guess we can talk about the best way to divide all the expenses so that it's fair for everyone.
If we took the total cost of the 4 totes needed ($200) and divided that equally between everyone it'd be $16.67 x 12 people. Now, the 3 people providing totes wouldn't have to pay anything, but we could take the $50 tote price and subtract the $16.67 per person and pay $33.33 to each tote owner. This would allow everyone to pay the same for all the totes. No one that is providing totes would have to pay anything. Everyone else would pay the tote owners $33.33 divide up.
Math:
12 people total.
1 person for trailer – no tote payment, compensation for trailer minus $16.67 for tote
3 persons for totes – no tote payment, payment for trailer
8 persons – payment for totes, payment for trailer
$200 totes / 12 = $16.67 each.
Compensations for totes… each tote owner would get $50 minus their share of $16.67 ($33.33). The remaining money would be spent on the final tote needed.
Now, Jay wouldn’t have to pay anything for the totes and the remaining 11 would divide up the cost of compensating him for his trailer minus his share of the totes. (I.E. If we decide to compensate Jay $100 then we’d subtract his share of the totes, $16.67, and divide the rest, $83.33, between the 11 of us left, $7.58 each.)
Please let me know what ya’ll think.
Also, since Kenneth is coming 300 miles and 4 hours to get his oil, I purposed we let him get all his oil from one load instead of having to make two trips a month to Texas. This would mean he would take 166 gallons the first load and everyone else would get 76 gallons, then the second load everyone would get 91 gallons and he would take none. I also purposed some of us Texas guys helping Kenneth out by getting together and taking a trip to Oklahoma every other month to take his oil to him. (since we'll be running $0.50 per gallon biodiesel) I figured it'd be a fun way for some of us to get together and take a little road trip to the mysterious land of the Okies.
If nothing else, I’ll probably make this trip alone.
